As we move into the New Year of 2011 I’m certain you must be considering the many ways in which you want this year to be even better than last year.
However, if you are like most people, you find it challenging to make “quantum leaps” in your success just because it is a new year and you’ve “declared” that you are going to be more successful this year.
Well… I’ve “been there, done that” in my past too and let me just say that breaking from self-imposed barriers is… well… AWESOME!!!
So, MY RESOLUTION for 2011 is to teach you techniques and strategies that will help you to make effective long-term, lasting core changes in yourself so that you will easily and naturally guide yourself into your desired success!
In 2011 we’re going to be focusing more than ever on these 3 core competencies:
-
Going beyond the “ah-ha” moment to create long-term, lasting positive change
-
Using “moving toward” internal strategies
-
Maintaining the ability to be SELF motivated
In order to create long-term, lasting change you MUST go at least two steps beyond the initial “ah-ha” moment.
I find that most people come to me already having had their initial “ah-ha” moment and they already “know” what their self sabotage barriers are, i.e.; fear of failure, fear of abandonment, fear of rejection, fear of being judged, etc. However, just knowing what the barriers are is not enough to create long-term, lasting core change!
So this year I will be working diligently to bring you tools and strategies that will help you to use your initial “ah-ha” moments as the foundation for creating new, more effective internal strategies that will move you easily and naturally toward your desired success!
In order to have an authentic mindset that will easily and naturally move you toward your desired success you must consistently develop your use of a “moving toward” strategy.
Whenever I ask a new coaching client to tell me what they want to achieve through our sessions, 99.999% of the time they will begin to tell me all about what they “don’t want”. For example…
-
“I want to stop arguing with my spouse.” – versus – “I want to have a mutually loving relationship with my spouse.”
-
“I want to get out of debt.” – versus – “I want to create abundant financial success.”
-
“I don’t want to continue working in a job I don’t like.” – versus – “I want to work in an environment where I am appreciated and valued for my skills and experience.”
Did you pick up on the different feeling and focus of each of the statements above?
It may seem subtle to you, however the “Universe” always pays attention to what you are FOCUSING on so if you are focusing on getting away from what you don’t want, you’re just going to stay stuck in getting more of what you don’t want. Trying to get away from what you don’t want is NEVER going to get you what you DO want — and yet, this is the strategy that most of use were taught to use practically from birth.
So this year we are going to work diligently to develop your skills, muscles and abilities to consistently use a “moving toward” strategy.
In order to create the success you desire, you must be SELF motivated!
It is an undeniable fact of life that you will have many challenges and problems as you work toward the success you desire so it is VITAL that you build strength and comfort in your ability to be SELF motivated.
-
SELF motivation means that – when self doubt creeps in – you have the internal resources to validate yourself and genuinely wash those doubt out of your way.
-
SELF motivation means that - when you’ve failed over and over and over again – you have the internal resources that will tell you to “pull up your big girl/big boy britches and go try again!“
-
SELF motivation means that – when others disapprove of and/or criticize your effects to create your success – you have the internal resource to remind yourself that you are worthy of your desired success.
-
SELF motivation means that – when others judge you negatively for wanting to create abundant success – you have the internal resource to stand confident in your knowledge that you are motivated by the positive desire to use your success to help yourself, your family, your friends, your community, etc.
With these things in mind, we’re going Break Free from our self-imposed barriers, we’re going to create quantum leaps in our success and we’re going to have a kick-butt fantastically prosperous year!!!
So here’s to 2011… May this truly be your very best year ever!
Cheers!
